"Rather than medallions, they show all-over floral patterns The harmoniously patterned, cream- and pastel-coloured Ziegler carpets are perhaps the first ever ""Transitional"" carpets. They were created in the 19th century, when a Swiss businessman named Ziegler founded a carpet factory in Persia. The carpets made there were mainly destined for the European market and were accordingly geared to Western tastes: rather than medallions, they had all-over floral patterns. Our modern Ziegler collection is made in Pakistan, from pure, soft virgin wool, following the nineteenth-century example."
